Agent Tax IDs and Organization Business Tax Numbers

From the Tax Return report, you can export a CSV file to review people and companies that may be missing their Tax IDs.

Agent Tax ID

If an Agent is paid to their own name, you'll add their SSN or SIN to the SSN/SIN field.

Agent's Organization Tax ID

If an Agent is paid to their Organization (business name), you will add their GST or EIN to both fields (2023/2024 workaround) 

Issuing 1099/T4A for both your agent and their organization

 If your agent was paid to a personal name then switched to business its sometimes easier to review the date that it changed in your accounting system as it would be super clear when the payee name started as the business name as a basis to figure out what was earned for both methods of commission payments.  Once you determine earnings for both payees, you will want to add a profile notes outlining what your agent made in Net commissions, record any deductions paid so that you can make the appropriate adjustments in their profile at the end of the year.  It's also a good idea at the end of the year to also add an additional note outlining what they made in net commissions and any deductions paid as their organization, to learn more about adjustments, read here.
